Perry was found unconscious in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on October 28th.He was 54 years old. Thec oroner's office said drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of an opioid, buprenorphine, contributed to his death. But the autopsy attributed hisd eath primarily to the acute effects of ketamine.Ketamine is a powerful anesthetic that is becoming increasingly populara s an alternative therapy for depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other difficult-to-treat mental health issues. It is also used in leisure time.

Toxicology tests also revealed therapeutic levels of buprenorphine, a drug that medical experts said was usedt o treat drug addiction and pain; Perry's assistant said in a deposition that he saw a psychiatrist and took

buprenorphine twice daily as prescribed.

Investigators also found evidence of sedatives, but no evidence of alcohol, methamphetamine or cocaine. Thea utopsy report stated that Perry had received ketamine infusion therapy, but that the ketamine in his system couldn ot have come from his last known therapy session, which occurred about a week and a half before his death. Givent he high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood samples, the main fatal effects would be both overstimulation of the cardiovascular system andr espiratory depression, according to the autopsy report. He noted that the amount of ketamine researchers found in

Perry's blood was equivalent to the amount used during general anesthesia. In her 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry detailed some of the health challenges she has faced over the years, including a series of medical episodes in 2018 which

included pneumonia and colon explosion., a brief period on life support, two weeks in a coma, nine months with a

colostomy bag and more than half a dozen stomach surgeries.Perry was just 24 years old when he was cast in

Friends, a series that would change his life forever and put him firmly in the spotlight. This sitcom ran for ten seasons

from 1994 to 2004 and eventually earned him and his co-stars a million dollars per episode.During Friends, Perry

starred in several films, some of which failed to captivate audiences at the box office, including Almost Heroes (1998)

with Chris Farley and Three to Tango (1999). After Perry's death, tributes from his fans and friends flooded the internet, with many remembering him for his acting talent, kindness and courage in front of his colleagues.
